Fire destroys garage, car in Lake Country

LAKE COUNTRY – While fire investigators continue to probe a garage fire in Lake Country this afternoon, it appears it started in a vehicle parked inside.

Lake Country fire crews were called to the blaze at 5955 Glenmore Road at about 11 a.m., Oct. 4.

The garage, a car inside and other contents in the structure were destroyed, according to a Global Okanagan report.

One of residents explains the fire started in the car when her husband was putting a battery in it, the report says.

The fire sent thick smoke billowing into the air and Glenmore Road was closed while firefighters extinguished the blaze.
