Penticton adventure park’s last day of operation dedicated to James McIntosh

PENTICTON – A Penticton adventure park will dedicate its final day of operation for the season to celebrate the life of James Christian McIntosh.

On Sunday, Sept. 27, LocoLanding will be donating 100 per cent of the proceeds of their final day of the season to the McIntosh family.

“When something as tragic as the loss of a child happens, I truly believe everyone in Penticton would give whatever they could for this family. We are just fortunate to be able to provide LocoLanding as a venue for fundraising,” LocoLanding owner Diana Stirling says, adding her staff were also donating their time to the cause.

James McIntosh, 5, was killed last Tuesday, Sept. 15 while crossing the highway at the intersection of Fairview Road and Highway 97.

LocoLanding, located at 75 Riverside Drive, will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m on Sunday. The entire community is invited to come out in support of the McIntosh family.

A GoFundMe page has also been set up for the McIntosh family. The page has raised $6,590 through109 donations in three days.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. My goal in the news industry has always been to deliver accurate and interesting articles about local people and places. My interest in the profession is life long - from my earliest memories of grade school, I have enjoyed writing.
As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.
I also spent several years at an Okanagan Falls based lumber mill, producing glued-wood laminated products.
As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
