Final work on Bernard Ave coming September

It's back to business as usual for shop owners along downtown Kelowna's Bernard Avenue this afternoon. After more than three months of non-stop construction the road will open to traffic at 5 p.m. today from Abbott to Pandosy Street.

New features:

– Two lanes with a centre turn lane

– "Sharrows" or shared lane markings for cyclists and motorists

– Parallel parking only

But the $14 million revonation to Kelowna's main drag still has a final phase to go. By Labor Day weekend construction crews will be back to work, rebuilding the street from Pandosy to St. Paul Street. Phase three will kick-off September 3 and is scheduled to be complete by early December.
