Kelowna’s new Bernard Avenue opens to traffic Friday

In just a couple days you will be able to drive along Bernard Avenue to where it meets Kelowna's downtown waterfront.

Crossing signals are already flashing, soon to be used by pedestrians who once again will be pausing for cars.

After more than three months of renovations, workers from CGL Contracting are finishing the final touches on the road work.

The road should be open Friday, just in time for the weekend.

Roadworker Brad Tennant says the final paving was right on schedule. Having decent weather helped, but Tennant says hard work is really what pushed the project along.

"Two double shifts, ten hours a day, six days a week," he says.
