Both sides plan city hall rally over Penticton waterfront revitalization plans
PENTICTON – Groups for and against the proposed waterfront renewal projects around Skaha Lake Marina are planning to make their views known in front of Penticton city hall Monday.
Members of the group Save Our Parks, who are against the proposal, plan to ralley at 5 p.m., July 20, as do members of the group Educate Encourage Empower Penticton although they are in support of the project which includes a waterslide park.
Wine Country Chamber of Commerce President Jason Cox says he is aware of the rally plans and has been encouraging members to attend if they support the proposal.
Cox says the chamber’s official position supports the project, calling the waterfront revitalization “a vast improvement over what exists along Skaha Lake now." He compliments developers Trio Marine Group for its proposal and the city for performing its due diligence with respect to the development process.
Clifford Martin with Save Our Parks is calling for a referendum on the issue.

No matter what happens a referendum should be held… The current council will be gone in 3 years but the people living here will still be holding the bag.
