Moose-riding man under investigation: B.C. conservation officer
PRINCE GEORGE – British Columbia's chief conservation officer says tips are coming in about the identity of several boaters seen harassing a swimming moose before one of them jumped on the animal's back for a ride.
Doug Forsdick says that while a YouTube video posted Saturday shows the men laughing at their friend's apparent exploit, he found it hard to watch because the moose would have been stressed.
Forsdick says an investigation is underway but that he couldn't say when the video was taken or provide the exact location of the incident, somewhere in northern B.C. waterway.
He says harassment of wildlife is a serious offence and carries a minimum fine of $345, but the cost of such behaviour can go up to $100,000.
Forsdick says moose usually like to stay away from people and there have been other incidents involving boaters who try to chase the animals or herd them back into the water.
He says that could lead to the death of a stressed-out animal or cause serious injury to people who need to be educated about public safety around wildlife.

When caught…. Make the fine so big that they have to sell everything to pay it! As for the captain of the boat,,,,,,,,,, take away his boat and permit to operate it for life. The operator of the boat is just as guilty of this horrible, sickening act by allowing his buddy to jump on this poor animal by driving so close to it.

These people are disgusting examples of the human race.I hope they get punished to the full extent of the law.Maybe they could spend a bit of time in jail and see how they like Big Bubba riding them.
Not only should they receive large fines but also have to serve Community Service Hours in a Animal Shelter or Rescue.We have fewer and fewer areas where we can see wildlife in their habitat, people like these usually are the ones leaving their garbage behind , smash their bottles , usually drive their boats like they are in the Indie 500 and are cruel to wildlife because they think it’s CooL.
What a bunch of assholes hope they get caught and not just a slap on the wrist make an example of them that poor moose I hope it is alright.
I was hoping the moose would turn on him when they got to the shallower water and kick the shit out of him….what a dick!

the laughing idiots in the boat should have their drivers’ licence and boaters’ suspended for life, and let the suckers walk to work and no bus pass ride a bicycle but then again they are not even worthy of that.
They will be caught! Take away their boat and make them do community service for a couple of months.
