Investigation into Vernon hit and run continues

VERNON – Police continue to investigate a hit and run which left a motorcyclist with serious injuries.

The May 23 accident happened in the area of Okanagan Landing Road and Fulton Road when, according to a witness, a Silver Toyota Celica stopped in the middle of the street, causing a motorcyclist to crash into the back of the car. The driver of the car reportedly fled the scene, leaving a 44-year-old badly injured.

Police appealed to the public for information about the incident and while the owner of the Toyota attended the detachment to inquire about his vehicle, RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says the accident remains under investigation and no charges have been laid.

Anyone with information who has yet to speak with police is asked to contact the detachment at 250-545-7171 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
