Local businesses urged to become “Friends of the Games”

PENTICTON – General Manager of the Penticton Lakeside Resort David Prystay is one of the first community sponsors to become a Friend of the Games through his offer of in-kind services to the host society.

The Lakeside will be the host hotel for the 2016 B.C. Winter Games, which will take place in Penticton from February 25 to 28 in 2016.

Prystay said he feels the games are a great event, good for the whole community.

“I really feel compelled to give back to our community to make it stronger. When you have an event like the BC Winter Games and thousands of young athletes are involved taking a critical step in their development, it just adds to the reason of giving back,” he said.

Organizers of the Penticton 2016 BC Winter Games invite the business community to come on board as a Friend of the Games to help leave a legacy for the community after the athletes have departed.

The games are expected to generate $1.8 million in economic activity in addition to providing an equipment legacy and a financial legacy which will see the money reinvested in local sports and community projects.

Local business can anticipate visits by Friends of the Games committee members presenting sponsorship packages.

“No donation is too small, and all sponsors will be recognized and be part of the legacy for the sporting community,” Director of Friends of the Games Myles Cizmar says.

Both large and small cash or in-kind service from business and private citizens can be made.
