Police: More swastika carvings found in Connecticut town

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – More swastika carvings have been found in a Connecticut town that has seen a spate of anti-Semitic graffiti.

Ridgefield police say three swastikas were found recently carved into a picnic table at a housing complex for the elderly and disabled. The News-Times reports that swastikas and anti-Semitic comments have been found in various locations in town in the past 18 months, including at the Aldrich Museum, the Masonic Lodge and at Ridgefield High School.

Authorities say the graffiti may be connected and that either a small group of individuals or one person is responsible.

Connecticut Republican state Sen. Toni Boucher, who represents Ridgefield, introduced legislation in the most recent legislative session requiring Holocaust and genocide education to be incorporated in schools’ curriculum. That bill was made law in May.
