MEXICO CITY – Two U.S. tourists have died after being swept from a beach by a large wave in northwest Mexico.
Cabo San Lucas Civil Protection director Carlos Guevara said the deaths occurred Wednesday evening.
The victims were senior citizens who had been walking on the beach. The woman was pulled from the water by a Navy boat, but died upon arrival at the Navy pier. The man was recovered from the water, but he had already died.
A spokesman at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico confirmed the victims as Nancy and Richard Culpepper and said that its staff are assisting the family.
