2 brothers killed in shooting in Sweden

STOCKHOLM – Swedish police are searching for suspects in the killing of two brothers who were gunned down in the city of Goteborg.

The shooting late Monday was the latest in a string of similar attacks, highlighting a trend of rising gun violence in Sweden’s major cities.

Police didn’t identify the victims but confirmed Tuesday that they were brothers, aged 16 and 20. Investigators had no suspects and didn’t comment on a possible motive for the shootings.

A day earlier, a man was found with gunshot wounds on a soccer field in a different part of Goteborg. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Shootings have become a growing problem particularly in immigrant neighbourhoods in Sweden’s main cities. Many go unresolved as witnesses often are unwilling to speak to police.
