Shania Twain says her first album in 15 years will be available in September, while a new single is coming in June.
The country superstar from Timmins, Ont., made the announcement on the singing competition series “The Voice,” in which she’s acting as a key mentor this season.
The new single from the five-time Grammy Award-winner is called “Life’s About to Get Good.”
Twain’s return follows an affliction with dysphonia — a vocal cord disorder — that forced her to stop singing.
While her condition kept her from performing, she still racked up a number of accolades in the past few months, including Billboard’s 2016 Icon award and CMT’s Artist of a Lifetime honour.
In a statement, Twain said “Life’s About to Get Good” was inspired by a personal mission to be more positive.
“I was at home looking out at the ocean and I said to myself, ‘Here I am stuck in this past of negativity, but it’s so beautiful out. I’m not in the mood to write a ‘feeling-sorry-for-myself’ song.”
She added: “You can’t have the good without the bad. And that’s what the song ended up being about.”
