{"id":6614,"date":"2025-03-18T10:45:35","date_gmt":"2025-03-18T17:45:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.infonews.ca\/inwine\/2025\/03\/18\/american-booze-pulled-from-bc-liquor-stores-available-at-independent-outlets\/"},"modified":"2025-05-21T09:19:54","modified_gmt":"2025-05-21T16:19:54","slug":"american-booze-pulled-from-bc-liquor-stores-available-at-independent-outlets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.infonews.ca\/inwine\/news\/6614\/american-booze-pulled-from-bc-liquor-stores-available-at-independent-outlets\/","title":{"rendered":"American booze pulled from BC Liquor Stores available at independent outlets"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Two BC Liquor Stores in Kamloops were bustling this week as employees pulled American booze off the shelves including Jack Daniel\u2019s American bourbon whisky, Tito\u2019s vodka from Texas and Jim Beam Kentucky bourbon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The action is in response to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/news.gov.bc.ca\/releases\/2025PREM0026-000166\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">premier David Eby\u2019s March 4 directive for BC Liquor stores<\/a>&nbsp;to pull all products manufactured in Republican states off the shelves and not order any more, in response to U.S. tariffs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bourbon lovers will still be able to get access their favourite American go-to drinks at some independently-owned liquor stores while quantities last.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEvery liquor store got a letter sent out from wholesale operations telling us what\u2019s going to happen,\u201d Brock Center Liquor Store manager Amanda Smith told iNFOnews.ca. \u201cPrivate stores can continue to get inventory from the warehouse but after that runs out we won\u2019t be able to order it anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The BC Liquor Distribution Branch is responsible for the wholesale distribution of alcohol to private retailers and hospitality establishments in the province who have the choice of continuing to sell the products until they run out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s up to the stores if they want to pull them but we\u2019re able to buy them until the product is emptied from the distribution warehouse.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>READ MORE:<\/strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/infotel.ca\/newsitem\/no-injuries-in-concrete-collapse-at-major-downtown-kamloops-development\/it108367\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">No injuries in concrete collapse at major downtown Kamloops development<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Smith said most of the red-state products are bourbon based.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCanada doesn\u2019t make bourbon and lot of cocktails are made with it,\u201d she said. \u201cWhen people can\u2019t buy it, it isn\u2019t great if that\u2019s all you drink.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She&#8217;s had negative responses from customers upset the supplies will not last.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kamloops resident Jason Hewlett said he isn&#8217;t concerned about the changes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFortunately, I drink more than just American bourbon, so I\u2019ll simply drink more Canadian whisky, or Scotch, and there\u2019s lots of those options to choose from,\u201d he said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>READ MORE:<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/infotel.ca\/inwine\/avoiding-american-tips-to-source-local-produce-in-kamloops-okanagan\/it108363\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&nbsp;Avoiding American?
