An application for a liquor manufacturing licence by Buffalo Rouge Brewing Co. could expand Kelowna’s North End brewery district further east.<\/p>\n

The brewery district is centred around Richter Street and Vaughn Avenue but reaches as far east as Welton Arms Craft Beer and Restaurant at 890 Clement Ave.<\/p>\n

The Buffalo Rouge proposal is for a commercial building at 1111 Gordon Drive, near the foot of Knox Mountain and, according to Goggle Maps, an eight-minute walk from Welton Arms.<\/p>\n

“The establishment will have a full time kitchen offering a full menu, from snacks and appetizers, to entrees and desserts,” states a letter from Liam Mitchell accompanying the application for the licence. “Weekends will include a brunch service starting at 11a.m.”<\/p>\n

The other days will have 4 p.m. openings and the application is to stay open until 11 p.m. every night.<\/p>\n

“We are directly neighboured by two long standing automotive shops, and a tattoo parlour that is about to open,” Mitchell wrote. “Thankfully noise concerns should be minimal as it is not a residential area and the majority of the neighbouring businesses are closed in the evening.”<\/p>\n

Drawings show a maximum of 48 people in the brewery, including staff.<\/p>\n

“There is a stand up piano that will be available for customer use, within reason,” Mitchell wrote. "We plan on cultivating relationships with our customers to instil a relaxed and respectful environment to ensure everyone assists us in being good neighbours."<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
