A vehicle fire forced Kamloops firefighters out of their regular station early Tuesday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An electrical fault in the truck dubbed Rescue One burnt its cab at Fire Hall One on Summit Drive, but Deputy Chief Ryan Cail said it didn’t spread beyond the vehicle itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Crews were able to get into gear and stretch some lines pretty quick and knock the fire down,” Cail said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That Kamloops Fire Rescue station happens to also be the department’s administration base, but Cail said offices were spared from damage, including his own. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Contractors remain at the station Wednesday afternoon, June 18, cleaning and assessing potential smoke damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cail said the building is still structurally sound and there was no notable fire damage beyond the single truck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Six firefighters have been sent to two separate fire halls and remain on duty, while the cleanup may take a few weeks before they can return, Cail said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
