Kelowna RCMP went on an enforcement campaign earlier this week and handed out dozens of tickets for speeding in school zones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The enforcement blitz was a part of Canada Road Safety Week during which traffic cops went to school zones to give out tickets on May 12, according to an RCMP media release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
RCMP didn’t say which schools were part of the campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers gave out 48 tickets for speeding in a school zone, including one to a driver who was caught going 67 mph, RCMP said. That’s almost 108 km\/h in a 30 km\/h zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A prohibited driver was arrested for being behind the wheel. Fifteen tickets were handed out for distracted driving, one for failure to wear a seatbelt and another for having tinted front side windows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
RCMP said there were three Motor Vehicle Act offences and nine drivers got verbal warnings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
