About 15 centimetres of snow is expected on the Coquihalla between Hope and Merritt tonight.<\/p>\n
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning<\/a> as a result.<\/p>\n “A frontal system will bring heavy now tonight,” according to the warning. “The snow will begin this evening and ease early Saturday morning. Snowfall amounts of 15 cm are expected by Saturday morning.”<\/p>\n DriveB.C.<\/a> is reporting Highway 1<\/strong> has slippery sections from Chase to Revelstoke; Highway 5A<\/strong> has slippery sections between Merritt and Kamloops; Highway 6EW<\/strong> has compact snow between Vernon and Coldstream; Highway 97<\/strong> has slippery sections between Summerland and Kelowna; Highways 97A<\/strong> and 97B<\/strong> have slippery sections throughout; and Highway 97C<\/strong> has slippery sections between Merritt and Ashcroft.<\/p>\n Charles Andrews, who commutes from Armstrong to Sicamous via Highway 97A<\/strong>, reported that the road was mostly bare this morning. <\/p>\n "The picture shows what the road was long me for the most part," Andrews said. <\/p>\n In weather, Kamloops<\/a> is in for a high of 3 Celsius and low of -1 C, according to Environment Canada. Vernon<\/a> and Kelowna<\/a> are both in for a high of 1 and low of -3 C. And Penticton<\/a> will see a high of 5 C and low of 0.<\/p>\n At the ski hills, Big White Mountain Resort<\/a> is reporting 19 cm over the past week and an alpine snow base of 197 cm.
