A male driver was killed and a female passenger was taken to hospital with injuries after two pickup trucks collided on Highway 97 in Quesnel.<\/p>\n

The crash happened at about 1:40 p.m. yesterday, June 14, on Highway 97 near Lansdowne Road in the central Interior city roughly halfway between Williams Lake and Prince George.<\/p>\n

Both victims were in a Dodge Ram pickup that was pulling a trailer.<\/p>\n

No one was injured in the commercial Ford F-150 that was involved in the collision.<\/p>\n

“The cause of the incident is still under investigation, but it appears at this time that a mechanical failure may have contributed to the collision,” says an RCMP BC Highway Patrol news release.<\/p>\n

Both police and WorkSafeBC are investigating.<\/p>\n

Highway 97 was closed with alternating traffic for about eight hours following the crash.<\/p>\n
