{"id":8374,"date":"2026-05-24T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-24T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.infonews.ca\/?p=7653383"},"modified":"2026-05-24T10:00:03","modified_gmt":"2026-05-24T17:00:03","slug":"proposal-for-new-neighbourhood-near-prison-returns-to-kamloops-council","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.infonews.ca\/inhome\/news\/8374\/proposal-for-new-neighbourhood-near-prison-returns-to-kamloops-council\/","title":{"rendered":"Proposal for new neighbourhood near prison returns to Kamloops council"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A developer is bringing plans for a new neighbourhood back to Kamloops city council after it was denied earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Kenna Village neighbourhood, mixing industrial and residential areas together, is proposed to cover 36 hectares just west of the Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A divided council denied the developer&#8217;s rezoning application earlier this year, and it&#8217;s now returning with a pared down version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Heavy industrial zones were adjusted to light industrial, while <a href=\"https:\/\/staging.infonews.ca\/inhome\/news\/7747\/new-1350-home-subdivision-proposed-near-kamloops-jail\/\">its 1,350 previously-proposed homes<\/a> is now down to 900, according to a staff report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.infonews.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/image_6e3758.png\" alt=\"|\" class=\"wp-image-7653404\" title=\"|\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">An aerial rendering of the proposed Kenna Village subdivision in southwest Kamloops.
