OSOYOOS – You don’t need to travel all the way to middle earth to enjoy a slice of the mythical world J.R.R. Tolkien created in his Lord of the Rings series.<\/p>\n

There’s a cozy little hobbit home open to visitors right in the South Okanagan and people from far beyond the little town are taking note.<\/p>\n

Listed as Halfling Hideaway on AirBNB, <\/a>this authentic hobbit home has had more than 500 views in the last week, meaning that people are keenly interested in visiting the cozy locale that’s  25 to 30 minutes from Osoyoos in the Okanagan Highlands.<\/p>\n

“The house sits nestled into a hillside on a secluded ranch,” reads the AirBNB listing.<\/p>\n

“As you approach the distinct round door, you will be enveloped in magic and wonder. The hearth creates a cozy ambiance to be enjoyed from both the living and bedroom areas. Relax on the patio and savour the beautiful wooded landscape.”<\/p>\n

The hosts have worked to make the house unlike any other that you have entered.<\/p>\n

“When you're not nestled up by the fire enjoying a book or board game you can enjoy the hundreds of surrounding acres with hiking and exploring,” reads the AirBNB post.<\/p>\n

If you wish to cook your own food they offer a mini-fridge, microwave and outdoor grill (weather permitting).<\/p>\n

But don’t expect to take in a lot of TV.<\/p>\n

They offer a purely unplugged experience with no TV or WiFi, just like it would be on the shire.<\/p>\n

The hosts are supposed to be top-notch and the list of 23 recent reviewers say it’s a five-star experience.<\/p>\n

“What can I say…..the work, craftsmanship, detail and thought that went into building and creating this little hideaway is amazing,” reads a review from a woman identified as Noelle.<\/p>\n

“All the little touches make you feel like you are in another place and time. The property is beautiful and peaceful.”<\/p>\n

Another said that  she and her travel partner were completely unprepared for the experience, however, which was so much more than the unbelievably charming house.<\/p>\n

“This was uncharted territory for us so everything on our trip was a surprise,” read a review from a woman named Nancy.<\/p>\n

“But the property, hospitality, amenities and accommodations really blew us away. Knowing that Will and his family designed and built the place themselves made us even more appreciative of every exquisite detail – and there were too many to count or mention here.  … The Halfling Hideaway is (or should\/will be) a destination in itself. If you are looking for peace within nature but want 5-star accommodations, this would be a great place for you.”<\/p>\n

Rentals are currently pegged at $250 a night.<\/p>\n
