Join us in celebrating the opening of Chloe Corbet’s exhibition “CONCRETE” in the Alternator’s Member’s Gallery Space. Chloe Corbet is a recent graduate from the University of British Columbia Okanagan’s Bachelor of Arts program with a major in Cultural Studies. Corbet is an emerging artist from Kelowna, B.C specializing in screen-printing. Her work explores the aesthetic nature of built environments. “CONCRETE” symbolizes the industrial spaces that inspire Corbet’s work. It is solid, placed, and finalized — a permanence-space. This permanence-space is the intersection of aesthetics and utility that my work explores. The prints are mining materiality/utility for its aesthetics. This mining process is used to set up a discourse around the way that materials are perceived based on their context.”CONCRETE” will be on view from February 7 to 29, 2020. An opening reception will be held from 6-8pm on Friday, February 7, 2020. Refreshments will be served.
