KELOWNA – Faith, family and food are at the heart of the Easter banquet Kelowna’s Gospel Mission will be serving on Saturday, April 4th from noon until 6pm at 251 Leon Ave. The meal is open to anyone in the community.
This Easter Kelowna’s Gospel Mission will serve more than double the number of meals it serves daily. We will serve not only the homeless that temporarily live in the 90 bed shelter, but also people and families who are in need because of low income. Everyone will be able to enjoy a family style traditional Easter meal of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, vegetables, cranberry sauce and rolls. Coffee and dessert will be served next door in the space made available after moving our Thrift Store to 125 Roxby Road.
Kelowna’s Gospel Mission has an amazing team of regular community volunteers and are pleased to have Kelowna Mayor, Colin Basran, Kelowna-Lake Country MP Ron Cannan, MLA Norm Letnick, MLA Steve Thomson, Kelowna city councillors Gail Given and our former mayor, Sharon Shepherd who are part of our volunteer team and will be serving the meals to our guests.
Randy Benson, Executive Director of Kelowna’s Gospel Mission, spoke about the meal, “This Easter it is our hope that people who feel hopeless can find refuge, forgiveness, peace and purpose in Christ.” This year, more than ever, Kelowna has shown that they are a city who cares about the poor and the homeless by providing not only this delicious meal but many other significant donations of time and talents and treasure.
Kelowna’s Gospel Mission’s needs extend beyond Easter, please contact the Gospel Mission to donate, volunteer or give an in-kind gift www.kelownagospelmission.ca or (250) 763-3737.
