Rockets prepare the brooms for Ams

The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Tri-City Americans 5-3 on Tuesday night in Kennewick, WA, taking a three-games-to-nothing lead in the team's 1st round WHL Playoff series.

Cole Linaker had a goal and an assist and Tyson Baillie scored the game-winning goal midway through the third period in the Rockets victory.

The Rockets held Tri-City to just 1-for-9 on the power play while scoring two power play goals and outshooting the Americans 25-22 in the game.

Jackson Whistle earned his third straight win. Whistle saw his personal shut-out streak snapped at 154.14 when Tri-City scored its first goal of the series, in the game's second period.

Riley Stadel and Tomas Soustal staked Kelowna to a 2-0 lead while Chance Braid added an insurance marker in the third. Dillon Dube and Lucas Johansen each had a pair of assists.

The Rockets and Americans will play game four on Wednesday night in Tri-City.

If necessary, game five would be Friday night in Kelowna.
