Skipping the Hotel Room for a Spacious Winter Escape at The Castle at Swan Lake

Business Spotlight

With apartment-style suites, full kitchens, a private chalet and plenty of room for families and groups, Vernon’s Castle at Swan Lake offers a different kind of winter getaway.

For many travellers, a winter getaway means checking into a hotel room, unpacking a suitcase and making do with whatever space and amenities are provided. At The Castle at Swan Lake, guests can do something different: spread out, settle in and feel at home.

Apartment-Style Living Meets Hotel Hospitality

The property features 44 hotel suites, each offering tranquil views of Swan Lake or the surrounding hills. But these aren’t conventional hotel rooms with a microwave tucked into a corner. The suites are designed more like comfortable apartments, with fully equipped kitchens that make it easy to prepare meals, relax, and actually enjoy the accommodations as part of the vacation.

Creating Your Own Private Winter Retreat

“The concept was to create the feel of independent apartment-style living, but with all the perks of a hotel,” says Jessica Orser, part of the property’s management team. Guests can choose from spacious one-bedroom suites, premier two-bedroom loft suites and family suites. With plenty of room to spread out, the accommodations are particularly well suited to families, couples travelling together and groups looking for a little extra breathing room.

For an even more private winter escape, The Castle at Swan Lake also offers a chalet with separate upper and lower self-contained spaces. Combining the warmth and character of a traditional lodge with contemporary comforts, each space offers a distinctly different vacation experience, complete with a fully equipped kitchen, generous living areas and mountain and valley views.

Stylish Chalet Comfort with a Modern Twist

“We have now expanded our Upper Chalet,” says Orser. “In addition to having upgraded amenities, a private hot tub, and large, comfortable living spaces, there are beds to accommodate up to ten people.”

Along with upgraded amenities, the Upper Chalet features a private hot tub and large living spaces, making it an appealing option for families or groups looking to spend time together without sacrificing privacy or comfort. The Lower Chalet features the same group-friendly kitchen and sprawling living spaces, but with the addition of stunning view windows and patio doors that open onto secluded green spaces and gorgeous views.

Your Home Base for Okanagan Adventure

Of course, the real attraction is just beyond the Castle’s doors. Set in a region known for its natural beauty and relatively mild climate, The Castle at Swan Lake provides a convenient base for exploring the Okanagan’s four-season attractions.

Vernon’s world-renowned Silver Star Ski Resort is less than 30 minutes away, offering an impressive range of winter activities. Nordic and cross-country skiing, tobogganing, skating and snowshoeing are just some of the ways visitors can enjoy the mountain.

When the day’s adventures are over, guests can unwind in the hot tub before settling in for dinner at the Castle Bistro Restaurant. Run by Vernon’s renowned Intermezzo restaurant, the Castle Bistro goes beyond simply providing a convenient dining option. Guests can enjoy a warm ambiance, great wine, and classic dishes from around the world without having to venture back out into the cold.

Snowmobilers have plenty of options, too, with Hunter’s Ridge Wilderness Area within a half-hour’s drive. For winter enthusiasts, the Castle’s combination of comfortable accommodation, convenient location, and generous parking makes it an appealing place to return to after a day in the snow.

The property is also well equipped for guests arriving with recreational gear. Ample free parking includes large lots capable of accommodating larger vehicles and snowmobile trailers—an often-overlooked convenience for anyone planning a winter excursion.

Discover Your Next Winter Getaway at The Castle at Swan Lake
