Driver rolls car down 30′ embankment on New Year’s day

KELOWNA – It was a scary start to the new year for a Winfield man who lost control of his vehicle on Hwy 97 in West Kelowna and rolled down a 30' embankment Thursday morning.

Const. Kris Clark of the RCMP says the lone male occupant reported losing traction on an icy part of the highway near the West Kelowna business district.

The car, a 2000 red Mazda sedan, went off the road and rolled at least once before coming to rest on its roof.

Amazingly there were no injuries and RCMP say alcohol was not a factor.

"Statements indicated by (the driver) suggest it was road conditions," Clark says.
