Lorrie Moore’s ‘Bark’ among nominees for $20,000 Story Prize for short fiction
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Lorrie Moore is up for yet another short story prize.
The author of such acclaimed collections as “Birds of America” and “Like Life” is a finalist for the Story Prize, for which the winner receives $20,000. Moore was nominated for “Bark,” which came out last year. Her previous honours for short fiction include the O’Henry Award and the Rea Award.
Other finalists announced Monday were Francesca Marciano’s “The Other Language” and Elizabeth McCracken’s “Thunderstruck.” All three books were published by Penguin Random House. The winner will be announced March 4.
A separate prize was announced for Kyle Minor’s “Praying Drunk,” which received the Story Prize Spotlight Award for a book “deserving of further attention.”
The Story Prize was established in 2004. Previous winners include Anthony Doerr and Edwidge Danticat.
