Bombers coach blaming himself for decision that could have sealed a win

WINNIPEG – No one is beating up Tim Burke more than Tim Burke over a decision that helped cost the Winnipeg Blue Bombers a much-needed win.

The head coach says his decision to punt and not attempt a field goal in the final minute of the fourth quarter Sunday cost them the game.

But Burke says they have to make adjustments and move forward to prepare for Friday’s game against Calgary.

The Bombers will be going with backup quarterback Joey Elliott for one more game.

Burke says the plan is to have Buck Pierce practise and be ready to start against Hamilton when they visit Winnipeg on Sept. 21.

Costly penalties also worked against the Bombers on Sunday and at least three players are going to be fined.
