Most actively traded companies on the TSX

TORONTO – Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (14,690.83, up 127.45 points):

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Up 44 cents, or 10.92 per cent, to $4.47 on 6.1 million shares.

Romarco Minerals Inc. (TSX:R). Miner. Up seven cents, or 12.07 per cent, to 65 cents on 5.7 million shares.

Denison Mines Corp. (TSX:DML). Miner. Up 21 cents, or 20.19 per cent, to $1.25 on 5.7 million shares.

Coro Mining Corp. (TSX:COP). Miner. Unchanged at three cents on 5.2 million shares.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Up 30 cents, or 11.81 per cent, to $2.84 on 4.8 million shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Up 21 cents, or 12 per cent, to $1.96 on 4.7 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Athabasca Oil Corp. (TSX:ATH). Oil and gas. Up 35 cents, or 10.97 per cent, to $3.54 on 4.1 million shares. With a new chief executive at the helm, the company is seeking to regain credibility from investors by bolstering its governance and making sure it can deliver on its promises. Tom Buchanan says he’s been has been reviewing Athabasca’s operations and organizational structure and listening to shareholders’ concerns since taking over about a month ago.

Extendicare Inc. (TSX:EXE). Seniors care centres. Down $1.41, or 17.4 per cent, at $6.70 on 1.7 million shares. The company is selling almost all of its U.S. business in a US$870 million deal with two investment firms, Formation Capital and an affiliate of Safanad Inc. The divested U.S. businesses generated about US$868.9 million of revenue in the first nine months of 2014 — more than half the US$1.6 billion generated by Extendicare as a whole over the same period.
