VICTORIA – British Columbia Premier Christy Clark is introducing her new Liberal cabinet today.
Clark said last week she plans to use the cabinet shuffle as a way to renew her government and bring fresh eyes to the cabinet room.
The refreshed cabinet is expected to be the frontline of Clark’s re-election team as she attempts to rebuild the sagging fortunes of British Columbia’s Liberals in time for the election next May.
Clark’s cabinet will not include many veteran Liberals as several long-time party stalwarts have said they won’t be running in the spring election.
They include former finance minister Kevin Falcon, and cabinet ministers George Abbott, Mary McNeil and Blair Lekstrom.
Sixteen Liberals have announced they won’t be running in the election.
But Clark can still count on several high-profile Liberals, including Rich Coleman, Pat Bell, Shirley Bond and Mike de Jong.
