Canada’s Molnar wins bronze in C4 road race at London Paralympics
LONDON – Marie-Claude Molnar has won Canada’s first cycling medal at the London Paralympics, taking bronze in the women’s C4 road race.
Molnar, from Lemoyne, Que., finished the 16-km course in 26 minutes 48.52 seconds.
Megan Fisher of the United States won gold in 26:04.39 while Australia’s Susan Powell took silver in 26:31.30 in the event for cyclists with physical impairment.
“This is a tough course, so it hurts as it is supposed to,” Molnar said. “This medal takes the pressure off the team.”
The Canadian men’s and women’s tandem cycling teams placed fourth in their respective races.
