One climber dead, another injured when father and son fall on B.C. mountain
GOLDEN, B.C. – The RCMP say a mountain climber is dead and another is injured after a father and son fell during an excursion on a British Columbia mountain.
The climbers, aged 22 and 52, were on Mount Rogers in Glacier National Park, near Golden in southeastern B.C., on Wednesday.
The Mounties say the climbers were descending the mountain when they slipped in the snow, eventually falling 10 metres into a crevasse in the ice.
The father died, while the son survived and managed to contact help.
The 52-year-old’s body was recovered from the scene Thursday morning.
The names of the climbers haven’t been released, but the Mounties say they were from 108 Mile Ranch in the province’s central Interior.
