Coppin State defeats North Carolina Central 63-61

BALTIMORE (AP) — Julius Ellerbe had 16 points in Coppin State’s 63-61 victory against North Carolina Central on Saturday night.

Ellerbe added eight rebounds for the Eagles (2-13, 1-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Camaren Sparrrow added 14 points while shooting 4 for 7, including 4 for 5 from beyond the arc while they also had five assists. Toby Nnadozie shot 3 of 8 from the field, including 3 for 6 from 3-point range, and went 2 for 4 from the line to finish with 11 points.

Po’Boigh King led the way for the Eagles (7-11, 0-1) with 18 points. Perry Smith Jr. added eight points for North Carolina Central. Floyd Rideau also had seven points.

These two teams both play Monday. Coppin State hosts South Carolina State and North Carolina Central visits Morgan State.
