Coalition party loses key member as Dube quits politics for Caisse de depot job

LEVIS, Que. – Quebec’s Coalition party is losing one of its biggest names.

Christian Dube is quitting political life and going to work for the Caisse de depot et placement, Quebec’s pension fund manager.

Dube and Coalition Leader Francois Legault made the announcement at a news conference in Levis, the Quebec City-area riding Dube has represented since 2012.

The accountant and former business executive was finance critic and one of the Coalition’s more recognizable faces as the party won 22 seats last April, good for third party standing.

A party spokesman says Dube won’t accept a severance package that is usually given to departing provincial politicians.
