Man, 94, charged with shooting at assisted-living worker
BUFFALO, N.Y. – A 94-year-old man accused of pulling a handgun from the pocket of his walker and firing at a New York assisted-living facility employee has been charged with attempted murder.
John Tenant was arraigned in Buffalo City Court on Thursday and pleaded not guilty.
Police say the resident of the Mary Agnes Manor told employees he was armed when two paramedics arrived Wednesday to take him to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
Authorities say Tenant then pulled out a .38-calibre handgun and fired once at a facility worker, missing the worker and hitting a wall.
One of the paramedics subdued Tenant, who’s being held without bail at the county jail.
Erie County prosecutors say Tenant requested a lawyer be assigned to his case.
