CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – The RCMP say a woman was seriously injured and a man was in custody following a break-in at a home in Campbell River, B.C.
Staff Sgt. Troy Beauregard says in a news release that the incident happened early Monday morning and it was not a random event.
He says police responding to reports of a disturbance entered the home through a damaged door and found an injured woman and a 42-year-old man inside.
Police say the man was arrested and the woman was taken to hospital for treatment of serious wounds caused by a weapon.
Police did not say what the weapon was.
The RCMP say the man was under conditions not to visit the home.
He was in custody facing numerous charges.
Note to readers: This is a corrected story. A previous version incorrectly said the man was injured during an arrest.
