RICHMOND, B.C. – Mounties have dismantled an suspected meth lab after a strange odour wafted through a busy area in Richmond, B.C.
Police began to investigate yesterday after getting reports of an unusual smell in the north Richmond neighbourhood that includes homes and restaurants.
Cpl. Stephanie Ashton says officers turned up what they believe to be a pre-cursor lab, where it appeared that chemicals were being broken down to make methadone.
An RCMP clandestine lab team has moved in to clean up the alleged drug factory.
They’re expected to remain on the scene for several hours.
Ashton says chemical labs can be very dangerous and police are glad someone called in to report the stench.
