WILD WEDNESDAY: An up-close look at B.C.’s snowshoe hare

The snowshoe hare — sometimes called the varying hare – changes its coat depending on what time of the year it is.

In the summer their coat is a brownish grey colour and in the winter their coat turns white.

They are also found all over the province, except on Haidi Gwaii and Vancouver Island and are a popular food source for many animals including, bobcats, wolves, owls, and coyotes.

Watch the clip below of the snowshoe hare in action captured by WildSafeBC trail cameras.
