KELOWNA – Rutland’s very own Kelowna Chiefs were defeated on home ice Friday night.
The Chiefs suffered a 5 – 2 loss at the hands of their division rivals the Osoyoos Coyotes.
The game started out Kelowna’s favour with two quick goals in the first period thanks to Kevin Roth and Adam Beatty.
It was a different story in the second period with the Coyotes tying up the game 2 – 2 with goals less than a minute apart.
The third period wasn’t kind to the Chiefs with the ‘Yotes doubling up their score half way through. Then with about 20 seconds left the Coyotes solidified the victory with an empty netter.
Connor DeMelo faced 41 shots on goal in the loss. Up next for the Kelowna Chiefs is a road game against the Summerland Steam on Sunday September 29.
