RCMP set up tip line for Elephant Hill wildfire

ASHCROFT – Police are hoping you can help them figure out what, or more precisely who caused the massive wildfire blazing in the Cariboo.

B.C. Wildfire Services and the RCMP say they have found the origin of the Elephant Hill fire, but they're appealing to the public for more information as they investigate.

An RCMP tip line dedicated to finding the cause of the fire has been activated, and anyone with information regarding the wildfire is encouraged to contact police.

The number is 1-855-685-8788.

The fire, which started July 6 and is still blazing, is estimated to be roughly 78,540 hectares in size, according to an RCMP release. The fire, located near Elephant Hill, south of Ashcroft is 30 per cent contained.
