KELOWNA – The Buffalo Sabres announced today, April 26, that Kelowna Rockets defenceman Devante Stephens signed a three year entry-level contract with the NHL club.
Stephens, 20, was drafted by the Sabres in the fifth round, 122nd overall in the 2015 NHL Draft.
Stephens is in his third season with the Rockets in which he has collected 19 goals and 38 assists for 57 points in 203 career games with the Rockets while posting a +56 +/- rating and 166 penalty minutes. He also added 12 assists, 32 penalty minutes, and a +4 rating in 49 career playoff games so far.
The 6'1", 176 lbs. defenceman from Surrey, B.C. helped the Rockets win the WHL Championship in the 2014-2015 season.
The British Columbia native led the Rockets d-core in goals this year with 13 while adding 22 assists for 35 points in 67 games played.
You can catch Stephens and his Rockets squad tonight when they host the Seattle Thunderbirds in game four of the Western Conference Championship.
Seattle currently leads the series 2-1.
