Make 2017 the year to explore your creativity at the Kelowna Art Gallery

KELOWNA – The Kelowna Art Gallery invites Okanagan residents to invest in their creativity this year by picking up a pencil, a paint brush, and cultivate their artistic skills, or try their hand at something completely new.

To help people develop their creative expression, the Gallery has put together a wide variety of art classes geared for adults and youth. Don’t miss your chance to take part in these high-quality, professionally instructed classes that run from January through April. Those registering before January 8, 2017 will receive a 10% discount on fees.

Sign up for painting in acrylics or watercolours, drawing, working with mixed media, sculpture, printmaking, or even a class that will lead participants through the process of creating their own website to market and sell their art online. Local professional artists Kendra Dixson, Jim Elwood, Kyle L. Poirier, Liz Ranney, April Snowe, and Rena Warren will join us to lead the classes.

Most classes run for six weeks, and cater both to absolute beginners, as well as to those of intermediate skill level. Beginners will learn the basic principles of their preferred medium, while also discussing, exploring, and expressing themselves through visual art. More advanced students will build on their existing skills through creative exercises to develop their abilities. Participants in all classes will complete and take home a number of works of art. Instruction by the Gallery’s art teachers is supportive, motivating, and inspiring.

The cost for each six-week-long series of classes is $160.00 for the general public, and $130.00 for members of the Kelowna Art Gallery. A new discounted rate of $100.00 has been introduced for full-time students.

The Gallery will also be hosting a number of weekend workshops that offer participants the opportunity to dive headlong into working with a specific medium of their choice, including watercolours, acrylic, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, and sculpture. The cost for these two-day workshops is $105.00 for the general public, $90.00 for members, and $80.00 for full-time students.

A full listing and description of available classes can be found on the Gallery’s website at www.kelownaartgallery.com.

The Kelowna Art Gallery is located at 1315 Water Street in the heart of the Cultural District in downtown Kelowna.
