Truck collides with school bus in Poland, killing 2 people

WARSAW, Poland – Polish media are reporting that a truck has collided head-on with a school bus, killing the driver and one of the children’s caretakers and injuring several others on board.

The accident occurred Monday morning in Tyrowo, in northern Poland.

Police spokeswoman Anna Balinska told the private broadcaster TVN24 that the children were on their way to school when the accident happened. She said initial findings indicate that the truck moved into the oncoming traffic lane and hit the bus head on. She said the caretaker and the driver were killed on the spot. The driver of the truck was transported to a hospital by helicopter.

Balinska said the school bus was carrying seven children, three of whom were taken to a hospital for observation.
