FRANCONIA, Pa. – Authorities say a man drove his car across several lawns and crashed into a Pennsylvania home, killing an 86-year-old woman inside.
Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said Friday that the 21-year-old driver is hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash happened just after midnight in Franconia, about 35 miles (56 kilometres) northwest of Philadelphia.
Steele said the man turned his 1995 Toyota sedan “into a lethal weapon” when it crashed into a bedroom and trapped the woman.
Mary Lambert was pronounced dead at the scene. Steele said she lived in the home with her son.
No other injuries were reported.
The driver’s name has not been released.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed.
