NJ man accused of harassing Trump out of jail

NEW YORK – A man accused of harassing Donald Trump before he became president has been released from jail before his trial.

Frank Monte (Mont-EE’) spent about three years in custody but was released Thursday. According to the Daily News of New York, Judge Mark Dwyer released Monte based on the amount of time he had already served, in relation to the possible prison time he faces on the charges including aggravated harassment.

Prosecutors objected to his release saying he should be viewed as a threat.

Monte, 46 of New Jersey, is accused of filing paperwork that falsely listed the president as a board member. He was arrested in 2014, but had been previously found mentally unfit for trial. A hearing was set for June 29.

Monte was previously convicted of stalking in an unrelated Florida case.
