Canadian men to play Bermuda in January soccer friendly

TORONTO – Canada will play a men’s soccer friendly in Bermuda on Jan. 22.

The Canadian Soccer Association says the national team will gather Jan. 10 for a two-week camp starting in the U.S. before heading to Bermuda. The roster, drawn mainly from North American-based players, will be announced in early January, with 18 players travelling to Bermuda.

“The international match will come at the back end of our extended January camp,” interim head coach Michael Findlay said in a statement. “We wanted to arrange a game that was close in vicinity and also gave us a good step from which to start of the season.”

Canada, ranked No. 118th, in the world, is 4-0-4 all-time against No. 187 Bermuda, winning 3-0 the last time they met in March 2007.
