Man jailed on $25M bond after shooting at officers

CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. – Authorities say a man who fired at police officers on the North Carolina coast has been arrested and is jailed on $25 million bond.

A statement by Carolina Beach Police Chief Chris Spivey says officers from the department and nearby Kure Beach responded to a Carolina Beach residence Monday afternoon after reports of a shooter.

The statement said a man fired at officers. No one was hurt, but a bullet did hit the equipment one officer was carrying. The man left the house and was arrested a short time later.

The chief said 21-year-old Thomas Henry Coulson faces three charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Online jail records did not indicate if he has an attorney.
